Research Project

Collective Improvisation and Innovation in Fields. A New Perspective on Labour Market Integration of Refugees.

The project develops a new theoretical framework for the analysis of the recursive interplay of collective improvisation and innovation in issue-based fields. Empirically, the study analyzes issues around the integration of refugees into the labour markte in Berlin, Germany.
With my focus on processes of collective improvisation and innovation in fields, I initially pursue certain theoretical questions.

How can a concept of collective improvisation of heterogeneous actors inside be developed? How can the interplay of collective improvisation and innovation be grasped? The overriding question here is: How can this interaction be understood in fields?

The field still roughly outlined with the topic "labour market integration of refugees" serves me as a reference point for both my theoretical and my empirical work. On the one hand, I am interested in where the institutional framework of labour market integration in Berlin works as far as possible. On the other hand, I want to find out where and for what reasons these framework conditions cannot be applied. I'm investigating which actors in this field play a central role and where collective improvisation as well as innovation take place.
