Dissertation
The Politics of Governance Experiments. Constructing the Clean Development Mechanism
In my dissertation, I analyze the emergence and establishment of the “Clean Development Mechanism”. I start from the assumption that the instrument has developed within the negotiation of practitioners who apply different perspectives on the instrument. I ask how the principles, rules and governance processes of the CDM were developed and formed in these negotiation processes between heterogeneous social worlds. Resulting from this, further questions arise: How have specific perspectives been established? How did new perspectives enter the debate? Which structures developed in the negotiation process?
Theoretically, the dissertation is informed by pragmatist work within the tradition of Chicago School and connects to recent debate on the practice turn in International Relations.
